Pinghe Village

Features:

Most of the residents of Pingdong Village are descended from settlers who migrated here 200 years ago from the Syuejia Settlement. This area used to be wilderness, and pioneers had to work very hard to clear the land to build a prosperous settlement. Since most people were migrants from Syuejia Settlement, the village was thus originally called Syuejialiao. After World War II, several learned figures believed that peace had finally arrived and renamed the village as Pingdong Village (peace in the east) given its location at the east of Pingxi Village. At over 200 years ago, the area included two villages of Syuejialiao and Pingxiliao. After World War II, the district officials discussed with learned figures of the village and renamed it as Pingxi. In the administrative district adjustments made in February 1, 2006, Pingdong Village and Pingxi Village were merged to form Pinghe Village.
