Agricultural, aquaculture, and animal rearing>>
Syuejia District mainly produces paddy, sorghum, corn, watermelons, and cherry tomatoes. Other crops include legumes, sugarcane, onions, and garlic. The District has about 1800 hectares of farmland. Of these, 100 hectares had been set aside for an integrated farming and animal rearing business demonstration area for improved agricultural methods, such as pig pens constructed in the middle of fields used to growing pig feed.
Syuejia is known for its high quality suckling pigs. Many buyers would gather here all-year round to buy the best stocks available.
Freshwater aquaculture occupies about 1600 hectares. The place rears grass carp, eels, milkfish, and wuguo fish (Taiwan tilapia). Significant improvements could be achieved by integrating the rearing of pigs, meat ducks, or egg-laying ducks with crop farming or aquaculture. The produce of these novel agricultural practices is also very well-received.

Syuejia is home to well-developed industries and businesses and has over 90 businesses involved in textile knitting and spinning, animal feed production, milling, and tile production. Syuejia's specialties include milkfish balls, milkfish belly, and milkfish floss.
There are a total of 86 industrial and manufacturing companies registered in Syuejia District. Textile industries make up the biggest portion with a total of 18 companies. This is followed by food manufacturing with 13 companies. Most of the industries in Syuejia are associated with the local economy as well as resources available. Hence, key local industrial sectors include farming and fishery products, textiles and garments, processed foods, and bulk goods.
