Xinsheng Village was created during the administrative adjustments of December 1945 and was composed of Xinliao, Jhuangxingjiao, and Dingshanliao. After discussing with the local leaders, the villages were to be integrated under Xinliao and renamed as Xinsheng (new birth) to signify the start of a new life. Daming Li is composed of the two settlements of Shanliao and Waliao. Shanliao earned its name because of its high elevation, which appears like seven mountain peaks, on top of which people built straw huts. Waliao earned its name because the settlement was originally composed of a single red-tiled house belonging to Mr.Li Yao-gan. The administrative district adjustments of February 1, 2006 merged Xinsheng Village and Daming Village to form Xinda Village.
