Jongjou Village

Features:
Guangming Village was named by Mr. Chen Shu, the first Village Chief appointed after World War II. The name Guangming signifies the village's march towards a bright (guangming) future. Mr. Chen Yi-mao named Baizhu Village after World War II. The characters Baizhu was derived from a line in Denggao (Rise High), a 7-character poem composed by the famous Tang poet Du Fu, that goes Fengji tiangao yuanxiao ai, [Zhu]qing shao [Bai]niao fei huai (The tempest sweeps while monkeys are wailing, while the river is clear with few white birds circling). The name Baizhu specifically refers to a small part of the delta. Minji Village was named by Village Chief Mr. Chen Guo-da after World War II to symbolize the unity and harmony of his fellow villagers. Xijin Village was composed of the hamlets of Touqian Liao (named after the temporary hamlet built by Jheng Cheng-gong's vanguards. Since most residents were members of the Sie Clan, the place was also known as Siecuoliao); Xibu (for having a Bu, or sugar manufactory, at the west; populated by members of the Wang Clan) and Zhanliao (populated by the Liou Clan). After World War II, the locals decided to adopt the name of Xijin. The administrative district adjustments of February 1, 2006 merged Guangming Village, Baizhu Village, Minji Village, and Xijin Village to form Zhongzhou Village.
